If you’re planning to work as a dentist or specialist dentist in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, you must obtain a professional license from the Department of Health (DOH), formerly known as HAAD. Practicing without this license is illegal, so it’s essential to follow the correct process.
Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you navigate the DOH licensing application:
✅ Step 1: Sign Up for UAE PASS
- Download the UAE PASS app from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
- Use the same email address throughout your DOH licensing journey to avoid confusion.
- Your UAE PASS account links all your documentation and reports.
- Scan your passport by selecting Visitor option if you don’t have Emirates ID card.

✅ Step 2: Log In to TAAM Portal
- Visit the TAAM portal – the official platform for health professionals under DOH.
- Use your UAE PASS credentials to log in.

✅ Step 3: DataFlow – Primary Source Verification (PSV)
- Submit your documents for DataFlow verification, which checks your credentials for authenticity.
- This includes verification of your education, license, experience, and more.

✅ Step 4: Credentialing Application on TAAM
- Once you complete Data flow with positive outcome, submit your application in the Credentialing section of TAAM.
- Make sure all documents are uploaded in the required format.
- Make application payment of 100AED.
- Wait for 7-10 business days.
✅ Step 5: Exam Approval & Booking
- Once your application is reviewed, you’ll receive exam approval (if required for your title).
- You can then schedule your exam via Pearson VUE or prepare for an oral exam, depending on your category.

✅ Step 6: Find an Employer to Activate Your License
- After successfully passing the exam and completing verification, secure a job offer with in 3 months.
- Your employer will sponsor and activate your DOH license. If not received a job offer within 3 months, no issue can do recredentialing.

- Passport copy
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Emirates ID / UAE Visa (if resident)
Educational Qualifications:
- Higher Secondary Certificate
- Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD Degree
- Mark Sheets & Transcripts
Professional Credentials:
- License from home country and last working country (initial + renewed copies)
- Experience certificates (as per PQR – signed and stamped by HR/Admin/Director)
- Internship certificate (general dentists/specialists)
- Residency certificate (for specialists)
- Log book (for surgeons)
Additional Documents:
- Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Resume
- Good Standing Certificate (from all licensing authorities)
- Staff Data Form
- Previous DataFlow report (if available)
