State Home Department (SHD) is a state level organization in which an individual gets to verify their personal documents. SHD stamp has to do to prove your documents authenticity. Process for Home Department Attestation

It requires verification from other levels The attestation is needed to be done from the same state government where the documents have been issued. E.g. If your documents are issued from Maharashtra state, you need Maharashtra SHD stamp. There is an alternative process though, called as SDM Attestation. The steps involved are mentioned below:

• Notary:
  The very first part of the authentication process is the attestation by notary. As proof, the document is provided with a stamp and a signature from the notary officials.
• Home Department:
  The state government legalizes documents as well and the SHD is a part of the same. It is exclusive to certifying personal documents only.
