Abu Dhabi: Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has introduced what is described as the world’s first clinical artificial intelligence scientist, named “Aila,” aiming to bring major advancements in healthcare and precision medicine.
The innovative platform has been developed in collaboration with Owkin, an AI biotechnology company. Aila is designed to support doctors by analysing patient information quickly and accurately, helping healthcare professionals make faster and more informed clinical decisions.
According to the report, Aila will function as a powerful knowledge platform that can combine and analyse different types of medical data. This includes electronic health records, physician notes, pathology reports and medical imaging. By bringing these details together, the system can help doctors review complex patient information more efficiently.
At present, Aila’s clinical use is mainly focused on prostate cancer treatment. Medical information that may normally take days or weeks to analyse manually can be processed by the AI system within a much shorter time. This is expected to help improve diagnosis, treatment planning and patient outcomes.
The platform is also expected to support the future growth of precision medicine. Authorities plan to expand its capabilities by including advanced medical data such as multi-omics and genomic information. This could help doctors provide more personalised treatment based on each patient’s unique medical profile.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Chief Executive Officer Dr. Georges-Pascal Haber said that advanced technologies must be used responsibly in healthcare. He added that such innovations can improve patient outcomes and support new discoveries in the medical field.
With the strong digital infrastructure of the UAE, Aila is expected to be expanded to more areas of medicine in the coming years. Healthcare leaders believe the platform could play an important role in shaping the future of clinical care and medical research in the region.
