EEG Technician Job Description
An EEG Technician performs diagnostic tests that record the electrical activity of the brain to assist in evaluating seizures, epilepsy and other neurological conditions.
Main responsibilities include:
Preparing and explaining procedures to patients
Measuring the head and applying electrodes correctly
Performing routine, prolonged and video EEG tests
Monitoring patients during activation procedures
Recognising normal and abnormal EEG patterns
Identifying artifacts and correcting technical problems
Observing and documenting seizure activity
Operating and maintaining EEG equipment
Responding appropriately to patient emergencies
Following infection-control, safety and confidentiality standards
