The Clinical Attachment Program at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU)

The Clinical Attachment program is a comprehensive clinical training initiative offered by the College of Medicine at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) in collaboration with Dubai Health. Designed for healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and allied health workers, the program is particularly beneficial for individuals who have had a gap in practice exceeding two years.

Eligibility and Application Process

To participate in the program, applicants must first apply through the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and submit the required documents. The DHA will recommend a Continuing Medical Education (CME) training plan with a suggested duration based on the applicant’s profile and needs.

Duration of Clinical Attachment

  • Minimum Duration: 2 weeks
  • Maximum Duration: 36 weeks within one year
  • Availability: Placement is subject to the availability of training spots and a thorough pre-placement review.

Pre-Placement Requirements

  1. Health Clearance: All participants must submit an Official Health Clearance Certificate before commencing the program. This is mandatory to ensure patient and participant safety.
  2. Immunity Evidence: Proof of immunity to the following:
    • Hepatitis B
    • Measles
    • Rubella
    • COVID-19
  3. Negative Status Evidence: Test results confirming the applicant is negative for:
    • HIV
    • Hepatitis B
    • Hepatitis C
    • Tuberculosis
    • Syphilis (VDRL)
  4. Language Proficiency: IELTS Academic overall score of 6 or TOEFL iBT minimum of 8, attained within the last two years.
  5. Other Documentation:
    • Valid professional license
    • Malpractice insurance
    • Recommendation letter

Required Documents for Application

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Updated CV
  • Passport copy
  • Emirates ID
  • Valid visa copy (illustrating the applicant has permission to stay in the UAE during the attachment)
  • Good Standing Certificate:
    • If a student: A recent “To Whom It May Concern” letter from the university.
    • If employed: A recent “To Whom It May Concern” letter from the employer.
    • If neither: A Police Clearance Certificate from the relevant Ministry of Interior Agency/Police Department/Equivalent.
  • Note: Additional documentation may be requested by DAHC.

Program Fees

  • Application Processing Fee: AED 230 (Non-refundable)
  • Training Day Rate: AED 50 + AED 2.5 (5% VAT) per day + AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation Fee (Non-refundable)
  • Exemption: UAE nationals and DAHC employees are exempt from the daily training rate fee.

Additional Notes

  • All applicants must pass the pre-placement review before they can begin the program.
  • Participants are not permitted to interact with patients without submitting valid health clearance evidence.
