A Hyperbaric Technician assists the healthcare team in delivering safe hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients inside monoplace or multiplace chambers.
Main responsibilities include:
Preparing patients and chambers for treatment
Operating hyperbaric equipment according to approved protocols
Monitoring pressure, oxygen levels and treatment duration
Observing patients throughout compression and decompression
Recognising barotrauma, oxygen toxicity and clinical deterioration
Responding to chamber-related emergencies
Maintaining fire-safety and oxygen-safety precautions
Checking, cleaning and maintaining equipment
Documenting treatment details and patient observations
Supporting wound-care and hyperbaric clinical teams
Following infection-control, confidentiality and professional standards
