This is a key supervisory role focused on ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in a specialized pediatric BMT unit.
Vacancy Details:
The Charge Nurse – Pediatric BMT will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant unit, with a focus on:
- Ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Maintaining smooth, efficient service delivery.
- Upholding clinical and operational standards.
Eligibility Criteria:
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Valid DOH (Department of Health) license.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of post-registration experience in pediatric hematology/oncology.
- Minimum of 2 years in bone marrow transplant.
- Previous leadership or acting charge/team leader experience is preferred.
Clinical Competencies:
- Expertise in pediatric BMT procedures, chemotherapy, stem cell infusion, and transplant-related care.
- Skilled in infection prevention and managing immunocompromised pediatric patients.
Professional Skills:
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to guide, mentor, and support junior nursing staff.
Preferred Certifications (if applicable):
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certificate.
- BMT-specific certification (e.g., BMTCN).
- Strong track record of professional conduct and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily Pediatric BMT unit operations to ensure quality patient care.
- Leading and mentoring nursing staff, managing schedules, training, and performance reviews.
- Ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, infection control, and transplant-specific guidelines.
- Managing patient and family communication and resolving concerns.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, social workers, nutritionists).
- Preparing and reviewing operational and clinical performance reports.
