Description
Nursing Manthra’s RCSI Aptitude Test – Part 1 Theory & MCQ Review Book is a comprehensive study and practice resource developed for overseas general nurses preparing for the RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Overseas Aptitude Test – General Nurse (Ireland).
The book has been developed by the Nursing Manthra academic and healthcare professional team with the aim of helping candidates systematically revise the important theoretical and clinical areas relevant to the RCSI aptitude test. It contains 2,000 practice multiple-choice questions with correct answers and concise rationales, covering a wide range of high-yield nursing topics based on the areas identified in the RCSI preparation guidance.
This is an independent Nursing Manthra preparation resource and is not produced, approved, or endorsed by RCSI or NMBI.
About the RCSI Aptitude Test
The RCSI FNM Aptitude Test for Overseas General Nurses consists of two parts:
Part 1 – Theory / Knowledge Test (MCQ)
Candidates must successfully complete the Theory/MCQ examination before progressing to Part 2. The current RCSI Theory Test consists of 150 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 3 hours. Each question provides four answer options with one correct answer, and candidates must achieve a minimum score of 50% to pass.
Part 2 – Practical / OSCE Test
Candidates who successfully complete Part 1 progress to the practical OSCE assessment. The test is designed to assess competencies expected of a newly qualified general nurse practising in the Republic of Ireland.
What This Book Contains
The book contains 2,000 exam-focused practice MCQs, each presented with four options, the correct answer and an educational rationale. Questions have been designed to strengthen clinical reasoning, patient-safety awareness, prioritisation and application of nursing knowledge rather than simple memorisation.
Important areas covered include professional nursing practice and the NMBI Code, patient safety, communication and ISBAR, infection prevention and control, vital signs and clinical deterioration, cardiovascular and respiratory nursing, neurological care, diabetes, renal and urinary care, gastrointestinal nursing, nutrition, medication safety, dosage calculations, sepsis, falls, frailty, delirium and dementia, pressure-injury prevention, perioperative care, safeguarding, consent, chronic disease management, community care, palliative care and other key areas highlighted in RCSI preparation guidance.
Why Choose This Review Book?
The Nursing Manthra team has attempted to cover the most important and frequently tested knowledge areas through a large collection of clinically applied MCQs. The questions are designed to help candidates identify weak areas, practise one-best-answer decision making, improve clinical reasoning and become familiar with the style of theory-based nursing examination questions.
The material is reviewed and updated periodically according to current professional guidance, examination-related updates and changes in the reference material used for international healthcare licensing examinations.
Regular and systematic practice with this book can significantly strengthen exam preparation. However, no study material can guarantee a first-attempt pass; examination success depends on the candidate’s preparation, understanding, clinical knowledge and performance on the day of the examination.
